Reviewing Christmas
Well, the hustle and bustle of the season is slowing down. What a nice feeling. I spent Christmas Eve at Curt and Joyce's. Arly and George were there too. We went to Curt's church for Christmas services, back to Curt's for a wonderful supper and then we did our tradition - we went Christmas Caroling. By then the roads were pretty slick, but we did a few places and really got in the Christmas spirit. If anyone wanted us to come in and visit - Roz was prepared with her line - "We would love to, but we have Christmas presents to open yet!"
Naturally, that was next on the agenda. It's so fun to see how each of us are thinking and determining what gifts to purchase. We definitely had some themes going! George got 2 books on Northern MN!, Arly and I gave each other books on Paris (each was different), Joyce got crafting supplies for her Cricut, and Curt got golf
stuff! Roz got stuff for her hair, books, and most important - American Girl stuff - clothes, a locker, school accessories, and most fun letterman jackets for each of her dolls that Arly made from Curt's old letterman jacket! So cute!!
Christmas day I spent playing a new card game with Roz (I think it was called Flinch) and helping her with her new computer and Bamboo pen and touch pad.
When I finally got home, I had a huge pile of wet wet wet snow at the end of my driveway to remove (sorry - no pictures). My neighbors were gracious to come and help me. After we got me dug out, we dug out a few of our other neighbors!
Merry Christmas everyone!!

The Book Club
I took a test on Saturday! I can't remember the last time I took a test! My dear Roz is our book club leader and she has determined that in order for us to retain what we read, it is necessary for her to give the book club members (Esther and me) periodical tests! Yikes!!!
I thought I had done quite well with my test. I remembered most of the material she quizzed us on, but I was to discover that more was required from us! If my answers weren't written in complete sentences with proper punctuation, I lost points! Needless to say, my score was less than desired. I guess I've forgotten the rules for test taking!

We are reading Nancy Drew's "The Secret of the Old Clock". Roz and I usually meet on Skype and read to each other. Roz loves to add expression to her reading, so in the span of a few minutes I hear an old man, a young girl, a singer, a lawyer, an old lady and Nancy herself telling the story to me. What fun.

We also celebrated Esther's birthday a little early -Wednesday is the official day - with yummy supper, carrot cake, candles and presents! Thanks Joyce
Late Saturday night, I panicked - I hadn't turned the heat on at Dad's house yet! I called Curt at 11:00pm to see if I needed to head out right away. He thought it would be fine til morning. I didn't sleep very good, so was up and out the door early. When I arrived, it was 44 degrees in the house, and like both George and Curt said, things were fine.
Last night, I went to our church and participated in a discussion of prophecy and end times. It's always so interesting to see what scripture says on these topics and from there over to the Baptist church for their fall festival. Caught up on all the local news over pie and coffee!

e trees are white and I'd like to curl up with my book and read all day. To be honest, I might do some of that, but there are errands to be run before, so I best get going.

Trimming Trees
The clippings were piling up all around the tree and I was pretty proud of my accomplishment.
But - there was one more branch that needed a haircut - so I stretched, and stretched some more and soon the clippers flew one direction, the step stool another, and me - well I came straight down! I sat there a second, it didn't appear that any bones were broken, so I got up - and decided that was enough for one day!
As I look at my handiwork, I can see my tree looks a little silly with those wild branches at the top - like Dennis the Menace.
Then I take a second look - did my haircut make any difference at all?
Well, at least I tried.

Ho Hum
My knee is still keeping me down - it was feeling pretty good this afternoon - so decided to make a Target run. By the time I returned - my knee was hurting - so back on the couch with the ice!
Remind me not to be so crazy with this running thing - I don't want a repeat of this.
I still want to run a 5k with Esther next year - so somehow I need to strengthen those knees!

Knee Elevated!
I'm home today keeping my knee iced and up. Over a week ago, I woke up and my knee hurt a little but decided to run any way. Big mistake! I finally had a chance to see my chiropractor yesterday - I'm hoping with a couple days of babying it - it will start healing.
